Finishing & Refinishing Projects finishing/ refinishing of trim, moulding, mantels, stairs, railing, paneling, coffered ceilings, cabinetry and onsite touch-up & repairs.
1. Room Setup
Furniture and decorative pieces will be gently moved away from project areas. We use 100% dust free sanding methods so there is no need to worry over dust particles. If we should need to spray finish, proper precautions will be taken to insure your belongings and surfaces are well protected from overspray particles.
We meticulously tape off areas to be finished and cover floor areas with specialized protective materials.
2. Wood Preparation
We meticulously inspect woodwork for flaws and discolorations, carefully noting areas needing special attention. Depending on the technique used, the surface area is prepared by either stripping or sanding methods. After a working surface is achieved and clean, the wood is repaired where needed.
3. Finishing Phase
At this point wood is ready for color touch-ups or staining as needed. And finally the finish is to be applied. We use various methods for finishing for different projects, it may be artfully hand brushed, wiped on, rubbed on or sprayed onto the surface for the desired appearance. This phase takes patience and attention to detail, we may need to apply numerous coats to achieve desired results. Each coat of finish must be allowed to cure undisturbed by major temperature changes or dust & pet hair. We keep the project area very clean and undisturbed at this point. Finish first must "set" then it will cure as it dries. It may continue to gas off for many hours as it hardens. We will communicate this with you if there may be lingering fumes or fragrances in your home during the curing process.
4. Area Clean-Up
Once the finish has cured, we will then carefully unmask & clean up. Depending on the size of the project, time required varies.
- During a single day project we perform a full clean up of the project area.
- During an extended live in project (days, weeks, etc.) we preform daily clean ups of the project area. We understand living in a remodel phase is stressful, and do everything necessary to return your home to you at the end of each workday.
